The Minister Of Communication And Information, Representing President Prabowo, Attended The AI Action Summit In Paris

The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, will represent President Prabowo Subianto at the upcoming Artificial Intelligence Action Summit (AIAS) scheduled to take place in Paris, France, on February 10-11, 2025. 

"The AIAS aims to foster discussions and concrete actions regarding the development and governance of AI on a global scale. This forum serves as a continuation of the AI Safety Summit held in the United Kingdom in November 2023 and the AI Seoul Summit (AISS) in South Korea in May 2024," stated Minister Meutya in an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. 

Meutya emphasized that opportunities for Indonesia to engage in the global AI ecosystem will expand significantly if the country establishes appropriate regulations for the development of this technology. 

Collaboration among the government, industry, academia, and society is crucial for creating optimal policies for the use and development of AI. "The proactive involvement of all stakeholders in the regulation and development of AI is essential, enabling Indonesia to harness the potential of AI technology to deliver maximum benefits to society and related sectors," remarked the Minister. 

As a preliminary step, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has initiated an AI Policy Dialogue to address the challenges and opportunities across various sectors, including e-commerce, banking, healthcare, education, and sustainability. 

Indonesia's e-commerce sector, projected to reach 150 billion USD by 2030, must be prepared to adopt AI to provide greater benefits for all stakeholders. 

With the right regulations in place, the Minister is confident that Indonesia will emerge as a key player in the global AI technology ecosystem. 

By actively participating in international forums such as the AIAS, Indonesia can ensure that the advancement of this technology aligns with the needs and challenges faced worldwide, particularly in terms of regulation and its application.
