A New Era In Industry: The Ministry Of Industry Supports Technology Adoption

Wednesday, 26 Feb 2025

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is committed to supporting the implementation of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and digitalization across all industrial sectors. This initiative aims to enhance competitiveness on a global scale and stimulate national economic growth.

Indonesia stands as a significant player in the digital economy within Southeast Asia. By 2024, the value of national digital economic transactions is projected to surge by 13 percent, reaching 90 billion US dollars.

"In 2018, Kemenperin launched the Making Indonesia 4.0 program, which focuses on improving productivity, efficiency, and the competitiveness of Indonesian industries," stated Emmy Suryandari, Expert Staff for Accelerating Industry 4.0 Transformation, during the CNBC Tech and Telco Summit 2025 '5G & AI: The Future is Now' in Jakarta on February 21.

To assess the readiness of the national industry for transformation, Kemenperin has implemented the Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0), a benchmark for evaluating companies' preparedness to face the challenges of Industry 4.0. With an emphasis on the adoption of AI, machine learning, and digitalization, all industries are expected to achieve a high level of readiness in line with technological advancements.

Furthermore, to support the 5G ecosystem, Kemenperin is actively encouraging Indonesian industries to produce devices compatible with 5G technology. "From mobile phones to antennas and other hardware, we are striving to ensure that local industries can meet domestic needs while strengthening Indonesia's position as a key player in the global 5G ecosystem," Emmy remarked.

Kemenperin is also closely coordinating with relevant ministries to provide devices and application technologies that support the development of 5G networks, including high-speed and high-capacity network devices such as routers, switches, and antennas.
