Apple Is Expected To Postpone The Launch Of Its Smart Home Hub

Wednesday, 12 Mar 2025

Apple, the technology company, is expected to delay the launch of its smart home hub due to the ongoing development of advanced personalization features for its virtual assistant, Siri, which have not yet been completed.

On Sunday, March 9, TechCrunch cited a report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, indicating that the Apple smart home hub relies on new Siri features, the release of which has been postponed as the company requires more time than initially anticipated for their development.

Previously, Gurman reported that the earliest possible release date for the Apple smart home hub could be March 2025.

This device, featuring a six-inch touchscreen designed for wall mounting, is intended for video calls and managing smart home devices.

The Apple smart home hub is said to utilize a new operating system, equipped with sensors to detect proximity, and will include support from Apple Intelligence, along with proprietary applications such as Safari, Apple Music, Notes, and Calendar, primarily controlled through voice commands.

Reports indicate that Apple has initiated an internal testing program allowing employees to take the device home to provide feedback. The company has confirmed the delay in launching the AI-based personalization features for Siri, which were promised as part of the Apple Intelligence development.

Apple has stated that it requires more time than expected to introduce new Siri features and anticipates their release "next year."

During last year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned that the Siri update would enable the digital assistant to understand users' personal contexts, including relationships, communications, and routines.
