Minister of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid received a visit from former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, at the Komdigi office, Jakarta, Monday (4/21/2025). This meeting was the first step in strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) in accelerating national digital transformation. "We were very happy, quite proud. His first visit came to the Komdigi office with the Tony Blair Institute to discuss how digital transformation in Indonesia can run faster," said Meutya when met after the meeting. In the discussion, Meutya said that the government is opening up opportunities for cooperation with TBI to accelerate the development of digital-based government services, especially public services that are directly felt by the community. In addition, the two parties also touched on opportunities for collaboration in building digital infrastructure, developing digital human resources (HR) including the 9 million digital talents program, and utilizing new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). "So the discussion was very broad, then each of our teams and the TBI team will review the various concerns or issues, which ones we will prioritize to become a collaboration between the two institutions," he said. Meutya emphasized that this initiative is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction, especially in realizing digital public services, including the digitalization of social assistance (bansos) distribution. However, Meutya said that today's meeting was still in the early stages. "Later there will be a follow-up meeting to formulate a more concrete form of cooperation," said Menkomdigi. On the same occasion, Indonesia Country Director for TBI, Shuhaela Fabya Haqim, emphasized her institution's commitment to fully support Komdigi's role. "Mr. Tony Blair also shared lessons from various countries, of course still adjusted to the Indonesian context. We fully support Komdigi's efforts to accelerate digital transformation," said Shuhaela.
